Game on. Wayne Rooney starts the move with a glorious pass for Ryan Giggs to run through and he tries to round Shay Given, but tales it too far. He eventually crosses for Nani, it falls for Michael Carrick to lay it back to Paul Scholes and the veteran midfielder - with the aid of a slight deflection - slams it into the corner from 16 yards.

Now City must score. Nani, who is improving all the time, plays a lovely left-foot pass into the City penalty area for Darren Fletcher and as the Scottish midfielder realises he cannot get a shot in, he cleverly tees up Michael Carrick to drill in from the right-hand corner of the six-yard box.

No sooner does it seem like United are wrapping it all up than Craig Bellamy flings over a cross from the left and that man Carlos Tevez, quite magnificently, hooks his right foot out - beating Rio Ferdinand to the ball - and acrobatically volleys it past Edwin van der Sar. he just created a goal. Stunning.
