Everton Vs Arsenal Highlights

Gritty Everton dented the Gunners title hopes by fighting their way to a 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.

Landon Donovan takes his first corner for Everton - and it’s a beauty. No one tracks Leon Osman’s run and the midfielder powers in a header, which Denilson on the line can do nothing about.

Andrey Arshavin passes inside to Eduardo, who lays the ball off to Denilson. The Brazilian’s shot from just outside the box takes a huge deflection off the unlucky Leon Osman to wrong-foot Tim Howard.

Devastating break by the visitors. Tim Cahill holds the ball up and then releases Steven Pienaar, who canters through and impudently lifts the ball over Manuel Almunia. Unbelievable.

Typically slick Arsenal move - but Everton are so unlucky with the finish. One-touch passing opens up the defence, Abou Diaby providing the perfect pass for Tomas Rosicky, whose shot loops off defender Lucas Neill and over Tim Howard.

ARSENE WENGER’S Gunners ran riot with a six-goal demolition of Everton on Saturday. New boy Thomas Vermaelen doubled Denilson’s opener before William Gallas made it three before the break.

Cesc Fabregas netted a second-half double before Eduardo scored a sixth two minutes from time.

After some tidy work by Nicklas Bendtner on the left, Cesc Fabregas feeds Denilson, who slams home a superb swerving show from 30 yards - the ball flies into the top corner, beyond the despairing dive of Tim Howard. That was pretty special.

Thomas Vermaelen but it has just got even better. Arsenal’s new centre-back escapes Marouane Fellaini and meets Robin van Persie’s free-kick with a powerful header at the far post. The Gunners look well in control now.

William Gallas is completely unmarked as he meets another Robin van Persie delivery to put the Gunners even further in front.

A fantastic breakaway goal from Arsenal, who go from one end to the field to the other in the space of a few seconds and three passes. The move ends when Robin van Persie crosses from the left for Cesc Fabregas and he confidently slots the ball through Tim Howard’s legs. Arsenal look home and dry now.

The Everton defence backs away to allow Cesc Fabregas to advance to the edge of the area and fire a low shot past Tim Howard and into the bottom corner of the net. The Spaniard hoists a shirt in memory of his close friend Daniel Jarque, the Espanyol player who died after a cardiac arrest last week.

Andrey Arshavin toe-pokes the ball goalwards in a crowded penalty area and it takes a slight deflection before bouncing on to a post. Who is first to react? Eduardo of course, and the Croatian taps home the loose ball from close range to mark his Premier League return with Arsenal’s sixth goal.

Steven Pienaar bursts into the penalty area and, although his shot is blocked by Manuel Almunia, the ball falls for Louis Saha to fire the rebound home.
