Leaders Real Madrid edged closer to the Primera Liga title after beating Deportivo La Coruna 3-1 in the Bernabeu on Saturday night.
David Beckham celebrated his return to the England fold by creating two of Madrid’s goals to notch their ninth win in 10 matches. His cross in the first half allowed defender Sergio Ramos to lashed home Madrid’s opener in the 29th minute before Deportivo drew level in the 54th minute through Joan Capdevila.
Beckham was on hand for Madrid’s second after he whipped in a trademark cross which Raul headed in to restore his side’s lead in the 58th minute. Dutch striker Van Nistelrooy then took his tally for the season to 23 in the 75th minute after a loose ball broke to him in the area to fire home Madrid’s third of the night.
