Newcastle striker Michael Owen has been named in the England B side to face Albania at Burnley’s Turf Moor on Friday.

Owen makes a timely return to the international scene having not played for his country since suffering a serious knee injury in last summer’s World Cup group match against Sweden.

Man United’s Alan Smith will line up alongside Owen in attack with Scott Carson the man between the posts. Tottenham boast 4 players in the starting line up that include centrebacks Ledley King and Michael Dawson along with Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon in midfield.

Reading’s Nicky Shorey will have a chance to impress at left back with David Bentley and Gareth Barry also given opportunities to stake their claim for a place in the upcoming qualifiers.
