Chelsea hopes of an third succesive league title and an unprecendented quadruple received a hammer blow after being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Bolton last night.

Bolton suprised the host when they took the lead through league debutant Lubomir Michalik in the 19th minute before Chelsea responded through Salamon Kalou’s inch perfect diving header for the equaliser.

Chelsea then took the lead in the 34th minute after Jussi Jaaskelainen was unlucky to see Kalou’s headed effort deflect off his leg for Chelsea’s second but Kevin Davies had the final say on the match as he rose highest to nod in Gary Speed’s free-kick to allow Manchester United to stretch their Premiership lead to five points thanks to their superb win at Everton leaving Chelsea’s title hopes all but vanished.
